Days like last Friday make me realise why I began to blog. Standing in a room with a huge number of bloggers, all inspirational and unique, at an event hosted by one of my favourite brands 'Vavavoom' I realised 'this is what blogging is about'! 'Vavavoom' hosted a blogger breakfast in 'Farrier and Draper' for hundreds of bloggers and the order of the day was new friends, lots of laughs and some pretty cool clothes! Hosted by the fabulous Rosie Connolly and the gorgeous Glenda Gilson, the morning began with a meet and greet, before a browse around the stunning spring pieces followed up by plenty of selfies! The spring collection is stunning with nautical pieces and blush tones prominent throughout. Leather reigns with some pretty pink skirts & jackets and lace makes an appearance in an amazing pastel blue bodysuit. The shoes are incredible with the pink cage-like style winning my vote! I was delighted to meet some of the most inspirational bloggers that I have followed for a long time and to be part of such an incredible event. Thank you Vavavoom! Check out more from the day over on my social media!
Until next time, Jen X

They're not for everyone but with fashion weeks streets alligned with the newest addition to the jean family 'the fray', they definitely caught my eye. Dressed up with a pair of pointed heels and a bardot style top, or down with a pair of kicks and an oversized longline coat, it will be your new favourite wardrobe staple! You will see them in a variety of styles from a simple subtle fray to an all all fan style so there is definitely a style to suit everyone! If its a new trend for you, why not start with a subtle style and work up if you love it! I personally love a style that is quite skinny in the leg before fraying at the bottom, and wearing with a fitted top will help balance out any volume. Check out the high street for some fabulous styles now I hope your Monday is fast, fabulous & fashionable!
Until next time, Jen X Ok so I may be getting a bit ahead of myself here but I can almost smell summer in the air! While the rain is pouring against the window pane as I right this post, I am ever hopeful that sunshine is just around the corner! I have started to slowly and cautiously plan my summer wardrobe and thought I would share some of my favourite ways to wear white, the primary summer colour! Choose your shadeWith so many different variations of white, its important to be aware of which shades compliment you and which drain you. While crisp white tones suit most people, an off white shade may not be a flattering look for many. Play around with different tones and if going for an all white look, keeping it all in similar tones will look most chic. Have FunDont be afraid to play around with your white by adding a pop of colour or some quirky shades. After all, it is the ideal colour base for every colour so why not have a bit of fun! The key is to keep the main piece of the look very plain and then go ahead, go to town on the kitsch accessories! Keep it simpleMinimilism is key when it comes to getting white right. Every piece should be tailored to perfection and as clean a white as possible. Look after your white and it will look after you! Go for very basic styles and avoid tight fighting pieces to keep the look elegant. Less really is more when it comes to white! All images from Pinterest Its never to early to start thinking of our summer wardrobes, and hey if it gets us through these showery days then why not?!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend Until next time, Jen X With Spring well and truely in the air (although you wouldn't think it with that weather today!!), I have found myself looking for alternatives to my usual black wardrobe! A pop of colour is always a good altervative but if you like me you are making a huge transition from all black, khaki is a good choice for a more subtle change. A huge prescence across catwalks this season from 'Stella McCartney' to 'Bottega Venetta' it is set to be a trend to watch this spring. It is complimented perfectly by white pieces and looks super chic when doubled up with sleek accessories. Adored by my favourite style icon 'Olivia Palermo' it is definitely going to be a welcome addition to my warbrobe Bottega Venatta Spring Summer 2017 All images from Pinterest Until next time, Jen X Athleisure. Think gym chic crossed with street style and you have it in one! Slouchy tees and cool kicks are the basis for the look and a quirky bag will get you extra style points! And best of all it is the savvy shopper's new best friend! We all know what its like planning what to wear to a shopping trip. Maybe its a Saturday and your heading into town for a stroll and to meet the girls for coffee. You need a new dress for that night and you know you will be trying on twenty different looks before you get the right one (which you will curse yourself for splashing out on on Sunday morning!). You need to look fashion forward and feel fabulous without having to peel off your skinny jeans and unzip your over the knee boots to try on twenty said looks!! Que the 'Athleisure' trend, strolling in like a knight in shining armour! Pop on your comfiest trousers, your slouchy tee and your oversized knit and your good to go! Add a crossbody bag or backpack so you can browse in comfort and your favourite 'gazzelles' as an added bonus! I adore this trend and with everyone from 'Dior' to 'Boss' taking it on this season you can be fashion forward without the hassle! It really is basic at its best! All images are from 'Pinterest'
Until next time, Jen X I dont know about you all, but dressing for summer in Ireland has always been a bit of a tricky one for me to say the least! If you go all brave with your flimsy floral mini that has had to be dusted down of all of the cobwebs since that one sunny day a year previous, you can be sure it will be lashing from the heavens by lunchtime! If you do the sensible thing and layer up, Pink PerfectionOk, so anyone who knows me will know that pink is not a usual feature of my wardrobe, winter or summer. However this season I have taken a liking to the subtle nods to the trend and the dusky pink hues that are all over the high street ! 'PRADA' worked the trend really well on this seasons catwalks particularly with their accessories, and I have a feeling the more rosie pink hues will still be dominating wardrobes come next autumn. Petal PowerFlorals make an appearance every spring in some shape or form. 2017 has seen the return of the exagerated hyperfloral style and I must say I am loving it! Again ,overly feminine floral pieces are not usually my style but when limited to one piece of a look and teamed with denim, I actually quite like the trend! 'River Island' have a fabulous collection of both pinks & florals this spring which you can check out Check MateLove it or hate it gingham has made a big comeback this season! Dressed up or down it is a versatile trend and adding a pop of red or pink really lifts the look! Seen on catwalks everywhere from 'House of Holland' to 'Aquzarra' its this seasons must have trend! Happy Weekend everyone!
Until next time, Jen X The Logo Tee. A staple piece around which many unique looks can be created. Seen on this seasons catwalks it doesnt look like this wardrobe wonder will be going anywhere soon! Dress it Up Paired with a fit and flare skirt or a pair of skinny jeans and fabulous heels, the logo tee can take you from day to night in minutes! Dont be afraid of mixing things up a little! Versatility is key with this piece! Work it OutAlthough you may be wary of transitioning the tee into your workwear wardrobe, it actualky makes for a fantastic staple item! The key is to avoid garish prints and large logos and to keep all other pieces of the look pared back and tailored. Keep accessories to a minimum and I assure you, you will be the coolest kid in the office before you know it!! Too CoolOf course the logo tee has always been known for its effortless air of cool and teamed with your favourite kicks and a leather skirt, you will be fashion forward and fabulous!! Throw on a pair of skinny jeans and a blazer for an alternative look to rival Cara Deleveigne! Such a versatile piece to see you through many occasions and if you dont want to pay high end prices, the high street has plenty to offer: 'River Island': 'Topshop': Have a fashionable Monday! Until next time, Jen X I hope your all settling into the New Year well. Unfortunately Im still curled up with this virus but on the plus side 'Style Sanctuary' is getting all of my attention. Earlier this year I began a series on 'What to Wear to...' where I gave suggestions on outfits to wear to particular occasions! This year I am keen to continue and expand the series as I adore styling looks. I've kicked off 2017 with what to wear to a girls lunch with all pieces from my favourite store 'ZARA'. When heading out for a girly lunch, nothing is more important than being comfortable as well as stylish. I love a dark denim skinny jean paired with an oversized knit and a buckle belt. Team the look with a block heel ankle boot for extra style points and a few extra inches (which I definitely benefit from!!). Click the link below for the look. I hope you all have a brilliant Thursday
Until next time, Jen X Happy New Year to you and yours! While im not kicking off 2017 quite the way I wanted (curled up in bed nursing a nasty flu!), the plus side is that it has inadvertantly given me time to start 'Style Sanctuary' off on a positive note for the year ahead! Due to time constraints among other things throughout last year, I'm sorry to say blogging took a back seat but I am determined to devote as much spare time as I can to my passion in the coming year! While I've never really been one for 'New Years Resolutions', I did make a promise to myself early on last year to ensure that any fashion items that I purchased be strong investment pieces that will see me through the years ahead, rather than 'on trend' ones, forgotten in the blink of an eye! I must say, overall I am happy with the hoices I made (primarily my 'seebychloe' bag!)so I wanted to begin the year with a post on what I think you Fashion Forward lovelies should invest your time and money in for the current season! Happy Reading! Leather LovingThe Leather Jacket. A firm favourite in the wardrobes of many and if the Spring|`Summer runways are anything to go by, a continued staple piece for months to come. My advice when purchasing the go to piece is to firstly shop around. From personal experience, its important to try different sizes in different shops to achieve the perfect fit. The biker jacket should be fitted and hip length with just a little room for layering! Next season its all about the Embellishment as seen on this amazing one from 'Eli Saab' and studs are here to stay as seen at 'Coach' If you wish to remain classic, keep embelishment and studs to a minimum to see you through for years to come. All WhiteWhat is Spring without fabulous staple white pieces? While we love to style a standout white item for those (hopefully) glorious sunny days, the new style rules suggest wearing all white as a much chicer alternative as demonstrated by 'Marni' on next seasons runways! When buying white, I have two main rules: 1. Buy clean bright white only. Off white is rarely flattering and can look like you were half heartedly attempting the trend! 2. The perfect fit. White can be unforgiving at the best of times so to ensure a complimentary look, always try on the item prior to purchase. Leave it behind if its too tight, partucularly if its white jeans|trousers! Flower PowerOh 'Dolce & Gabanna' you've done it again!! Famed for their amazing silhouettes and exquisite attention to detail, next season is no exception for the fashion house. Pretty florals adorn both beautiful gowns and lovely crowns creating a dreamy collection. If a more subtle nod to the floral trend is your preferred choice, check out the runway from 'Prada' where simple white creates the backdrop for speckled flower patterns in many of their pieces. Florals are seen time and again through many seasons so are well worth the investment now. The beginning of the year is a great time to clean out your wardrobe and to stock up on staple pieces and I hopwme that this post goes some way in helping you! Happy New Year to you all, I hope its a fabulous and fashionable one!
