Every season there are certain trends that represent the world of fashion and what it wants to express for the following six months. As I spoke about in Mondays post, I think it is so important to be your own person when it comes to style and dont feel that you have to try every trend, but in saying that, when worn with confidence trends can be playful and chic. They can also be a way to subtly change up your look if you want to temporarily try something different and your not too sure! This spring/summer there are some unique trends that I am not neccesarily sure I would be able to rock but I do adore how they can be styled and I feel like they could grow on me! Purple ReignLavender is certainly the colour of the season with everyone from Victoria Beckham to Erdem showcasing stunning pieces from their collections in the heavenly hue. There are some stronger tones of purple popping up also and some nods to the trend with accessories but lavender is the reigning colour of the season without doubt. Getting PlaidPlaid is not neccesarily a trend I would usually go for but I have been loving the more subtle approach to it on this years catwalks. I adore the oversized check blazer and denim look and when its done right it can be so chic! I have linked a few of my favourite high street blazers for this season in a recent post linked here if you want to try out the trend: >go-to-pieces-myultimate-collection.html Belt UpThe return of the belt bag is one I welcome with open arms this season. Stylish and practical, they are the new it bag for this SS and can easily be dressed up or down depending on the look. This is one trend I can definitely see myself trying out. Scarf StyleScarves are a firm wardrobe favourite of mine. They are so versatile and elegant and look just as good draped around the neck as delicately tied in a bow on your favourite handbag. The silk scarf was showcased as a headscarf on this seasons runways reflecting a more maybe old fashioned era with a modern twist. I adore the reminance of a movie starlet strolling in St Tropez that the look creates. Being honest, I dont have enough scarves myself and I feel that it would be more my personal style to drape the scarf through the ponytail, rather than over the entire head! Ill save that for the moviestar-esque girls!! FringingFringing represents playful fun fashion. It adds texture and interest to basic pieces and it never goes out of style. Designers took a unique approach to the trend this season with Erdem creating a more dark grungy collection and Louis Vuitton creating delicate detailing in theirs. Sports LuxeWho doesnt love comfort and style combined? I for one am happy to see the sports luxe trend sticking around for another season. It is casual yet chic and while I havent yet mastered the tracksuit pants and barely there heels look, I wont give up on trying! Sheer DelightSo there you have it, my thoughts on some of this seasons dominant trends. I adore some and others will grow on me but whatever the case I will stay true to my own style. I would love to hear your thoughts on the trends? What are your favourites? Are there any you have tried? I look forward to trying some of them out this weekend.
Happy Friday! Until next time, Jen X
